The final appointment with the 2023 EMX250 and EMX125 season took place in Matterley Basin, Great Britain, a very technical and historic motocross track. Nice weather conditions featured a thrilling racing weekend.
Cas Valk in EMX250 and Maximilian Werner in EMX125 take the European bronze medal.
EMX125
In the 125 practice, Elias Escandell and Maximilian Werner set the fourth and the seventh best time, respectively.
At the start of the first heat, Elias and Max were phenomenal, both reaching the top positions after the first corner, with Elias second, followed by his teammate. The two riders of the Fantic Racing team were the protagonists of a solid race with their Fantic XX125 and kept the two positions till the end of the moto.
In Race2, Elias Escandell was once again the author of a great start. Unfortunately, he missed the hole shot because of contact with a rival in the first corner. The Spanish rider slipped in the first lap and lost several positions, but Elias worked his way up and finished 11th.
Max Werner faced a tough start and got stuck at the center of the pack but recovered several positions in the first lap till the fourth spot. After keeping that position for most of the race, Max was tired, slowed down his race pace, and could not keep his rivals' rhythm, so he finished in sixth place.
Max Werner was on the podium once again, finishing the British GP in third place, followed by Elias Escandell.
Thanks to these two results, Max Werner finished third on the podium and got the bronze medal in the Championship standings.
EMX250
The Fantic riders were once again the protagonists of the EMX250. In the qualifying, Cas Valk and Alexis Fueri had to get used to the track to set their Fantic XX 250. Cas set the fourth fastest time and Alexis the ninth, despite a big crash.
In Race1, Valk and Fueri succeeded in a phenomenal start, taking the hole shot and leading the race. Fueri chased the teammate but crashed in the first lap, damaging his bike and forcing him to abandon the race. Cas Valk kept the lead of the moto for several laps, but a mistake made him lose first place. However, the Dutch rider tried to recover but could not attack his rival, so he closed second.
It was an excellent start for Alexis Fueri in the second heat, where he reached fifth place. The French rider made a mistake in the first lap and lost positions, so he decided to retire since he was still affected by the injuries suffered in Saturday's crash.
Cas Valk could not repeat the great start of Race1 but tried to get up to speed and worked his way up to ninth place.
Valk finished the British GP in sixth position. But the most important thing is that he defends his third place in the overall standings. In his debut year in EMX250, the Dutchman took the bronze medal. Cas won two Grand Prix, five heats, and two-second places this season.
Marco Maddii: "We've reached our goals, and we stepped on the podium in both categories, with Max in the 125 and Cas in the 250. It's been an amazing season for both riders. Valk was enrolled in his first European Championship in the 250, reaching podiums and victories beyond what we'd expected. Max was consistent the entire season. A positive outcome in the European Championship, we're so happy with our results."
